Matenui

Set and Lighting design for the 2022 Bats Theatre production Matenui. A kitchen sink drama set in 1977 Aotearoa that seethes and explodes like a domestic opera, up against a backdrop of one of the most turbulent times in our country's history. The set design plays on the tropes of 70's multi-camera sitcoms, with a distorted, disconnected layout that reflects the discomfort and tentative state of the family residing inside.
